Free AI bot & AI search access analysis

Can ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-powered search services actually read your website? That is the precondition for your business to be found in AI search. With my free analysis of access for AI bots, I check whether named AI bots can technically access a given page, and whether barriers are blocking them, at no cost to you. The tool reviews robots.txt, sitemap, indexing, and the page’s HTML content, then tests access bot by bot. It is a purely technical check and does not use a paid AI API to assess your content, only to determine whether AI bots can actually get into the page.

What do you get with the free AI bot access analysis?

When you analyse a page, you get an overall report on how well the page is set up to be read by AI bots. The report shows, among other things:

  • An overall AI bot access score (0 to 100) with an easy-to-understand rating, for example “Strong technical access for AI bots”
  • Whether the page has a robots.txt file and a sitemap, and whether the page is set to noindex
  • Whether the page’s HTML content is accessible to bots that do not execute JavaScript
  • A review of each AI bot individually, showing whether it has access according to robots.txt, and what the actual technical request returned
  • Warnings if one or more of the tests could not be completed correctly

How to use the AI tool

Enter the URL of the page you want checked, optionally add a primary topic or keyword, and choose whether the analysis should run in Danish, English, or German, or let the tool detect the language automatically. Then click “Check AI bot access”, and you get your report in few minuts.

What exactly does the analysis check?

The analysis combines several technical checks that each affect whether AI bots can read and use your page, and therefore whether you have any chance at all of being found in AI search. Below, you can see what each check actually means.

Robots.txt, sitemap and indexing

The analysis checks whether your website has a robots.txt file and an XML sitemap, and whether the analyzed page includes the “noindex” meta tag. The robots.txt file is often the first file an AI bot accesses before crawling your website. If access is explicitly prohibited there, the bot generally cannot continue to read your content. The XML sitemap helps search engines and AI systems find and index your pages efficiently. If it is missing or contains errors, this can impair the discoverability of your content. Additionally, the system checks whether the page has been set to “noindex” for search engines. In this case, it should not be indexed, which can negatively impact visibility in traditional search engines and, in some cases, in AI search systems as well.

HTML content accessibility

Many AI bots do not execute JavaScript when fetching a web page. The analysis therefore checks whether the actual page content is already included in the HTML code delivered to the bot, or whether the content is generated later in the browser via JavaScript. If content is loaded exclusively via JavaScript, it is invisible to many AI bots. As a result, important information cannot be read or used as a source in AI-generated responses.

Access for each AI bot

The tool is currently testing technical access for five known AI bots:

  • OAI-SearchBot (OpenAI)
  • GPTBot (OpenAI)
  • ChatGPT-User
  • PerplexityBot
  • Perplexity-User

For each individual bot, the report shows:

  • whether access is allowed or blocked according to robots.txt,
  • what result an actual technical request using the respective user-agent returned,
  • and whether any technical issues occurred during the test.

In some cases, the status “Unknown” is displayed. This does not automatically mean that the bot is blocked. It simply indicates that the technical test could not be conclusively completed and that a more detailed analysis is recommended.

Why does visibility in AI search matter?

No matter how well your content is written, it cannot appear in answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar AI-powered services if their bots are technically blocked from reading the page. Access for AI bots is therefore a precondition for visibility in AI search. It is not a guarantee that your page will be used as a source, but without access it is not possible at all. This analysis helps you remove the technical barriers, so your content at least has a real chance of being found.

Why use Vester Marketing’s free AI bot access & AI search analysis?

I built the tool because I work with making clients’ pages visible in both classic search and AI search, and access for AI bots is often the first thing I check. The analysis gives you an honest, technically accurate starting point, with no sales pressure and at no cost to you, whether you fix the findings yourself or want help doing so.

Is your business not being found enough in AI search?

If the analysis shows that AI bots struggle to read your page, that is part of the explanation for why your business does not show up when customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, or other AI services about your products or services. Feel free to send me your report, and I will look at how we can remove the technical barriers and strengthen your visibility in AI search, with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions about AI bot access & AI serch analysis

Yes. You can analyse your page completely free of charge and without creating an account. Simply enter the URL, and you will get your report right away.

No. The technical check does not use a paid AI API. It is a direct, technical test of whether AI bots can access the page, not an AI assessment of your content.

The tool currently tests OpenAI’s OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, and ChatGPT-User, as well as Perplexity’s PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User. The list may be expanded with more bots over time.

It can either mean that robots.txt blocks the bot, or that the technical request did not get a clear response. See the details for the individual bot in the report to understand the exact cause.

You can choose between Danish, English, and German, or let the tool detect the language automatically from the page’s content.
